Authentic Nicaraguan double hammock 100% cotton
A hammock in homage to Santa Clara, a volcano in the Telica/Rota complex in Nicaragua, which provides mud for clay artworks and pools for bathing and laundry for the locals. This designer hammock, made from soft cotton, will add a touch of cocooning, bohemian decor to your space.

Discover our superb blue/ecru XL hammock in traditional Nicaraguan style: its macramé bangs and the body of this hammock are woven entirely by hand. The craftsmen twist the cotton threads with a wooden wheel to make it stronger and more comfortable for the back (when lying down). If you're curious, you'll find all the stages of production here: How our hammocks are made in Nicaragua.

The art of macramé: luxury bangs for a uniquely designed XL hammock

This is the only hammock in our cotton collection to feature two macramé bangs. This unique feature sets this hammock apart from the rest, and gives it an original design touch. This complex interweaving technique is often handed down from generation to generation, or learned in the workshop. The extra-thick ropes are guaranteed to last for many years. To hang your XL hammock correctly, take a look at our our fasteners.

Handicrafts in Nicaragua: an opportunity in the face of unemployment and economic obstacles

Handicrafts in Nicaragua have long been perceived as inefficient and unprofitable, due to rather primitive production technologies and limited output. However, in a country like Nicaragua, where unemployment is high, these aspects can be transformed into advantages. Indeed, handicrafts are based on person-to-person learning, enabling many people to acquire skills without having to invest in expensive studies. The development of tourism and business also supports this growing trend.

The quality of Nicaraguan handicrafts has improved in recent years, prompting European, Canadian and American companies to take an interest in many of the items. As animporter of Latinohammocks, our collaboration has been very positive, with punctual deliveries and products arriving in excellent condition, demonstrating the quality of the work carried out.

Masaya cotton hammocks: growing exports worldwide

It's worth noting that hammocks from Nicaragua represent the majority of Nicaragua's artisanal exports, as a number of companies have dedicated themselves to promoting hammocks. Thanks to the internet and social networks, the producers themselves are getting involved in distributing their products and promoting their work in the country and beyond. This "new" promotional work has led to an increase in the network of artisanal businesses: successful hammock workshops, which employed around 10 people in 1995, now employ 30 people. to 60 workers per workshop. The most widely exported hammocks are the famous bar hammocks.

Hammock production generates substantial direct and indirect employment, estimated in the city of Masaya at several thousand people.
